🤝 Code of Conduct for Salam

Salam (سلام) means peace. That is the spirit we carry into every interaction in this community.

Our community is dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion (or lack thereof), or technology choices. We do not tolerate harassment of participants in any form.

✅ Expected Behavior

  • 💬 Be kind, respectful, and considerate of others.
  • 👂 Listen to and genuinely consider the opinions of others.
  • 🔄 Be open to constructive criticism and feedback.
  • 🌍 Respect differing opinions, perspectives, and backgrounds.
  • 🙏 Assume good intent and extend grace to fellow community members.
  • 🆕 Be especially welcoming to newcomers - everyone starts somewhere.
  • 🗣️ Use inclusive language that welcomes all people.

🚫 Unacceptable Behavior

  • ❌ Discriminatory, harassing, or offensive language of any kind.
  • ❌ Sexually suggestive or violent language or imagery.
  • ❌ Racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist, or otherwise discriminatory jokes or comments.
  • ❌ Personal attacks, insults, or targeted harassment.
  • ❌ Hate speech or discrimination toward any individual or group.
  • ❌ Doxxing or sharing private information without consent.
  • ❌ Sustained disruption of community discussions or events.

⚖️ Enforcement

Community leaders are responsible for clarifying and enforcing these standards and will take appropriate and fair corrective action in response to any behavior that they deem inappropriate, threatening, offensive, or harmful.

Violations can be reported by:

  • 💬 Reaching out directly to a maintainer on Discord or Telegram via direct message.

All reports will be handled with discretion and confidentiality. Community leaders who do not follow or enforce this Code of Conduct in good faith may face temporary or permanent repercussions.

🌐 Scope

This Code of Conduct applies in all community spaces, including:

  • GitHub issues, pull requests, and discussions.
  • Discord and Telegram channels.
  • Any public or private space when representing the Salam community.

This Code of Conduct is adapted from the Contributor Covenant, version 2.1.
